Leroy Lusk, age 88 of Palestine, is now in the presence of our loving Lord.  Mr. Lusk passed away on Thursday, the 19th day of August 2021 at Palestine Regional Medical Center under the care of Hospice of East Texas.  He was born in Maydelle, Texas on the 3rd day of May 1933, to the late William Lusk and Elma Ballew Lusk.

Mr. Lusk graduated from Maydelle High School and then attended Stephen F. Austin State University on a basketball scholarship. He served in the United States Army and was honorably discharged.  Mr. Lusk owned and operated several businesses in Palestine and was a lifelong cattle rancher. He was a faithful member and deacon at Antioch Baptist Church, Palestine, for over 50 years. Leroy was an avid deer hunter and loved his annual mule deer hunts in Colorado for over 30 years. Leroy loved to travel and later in life was introduced to the Mexican resort of Cozumel by his son-in-law Alan Clark. After one trip, he fell in love with the area and for several years it became an annual excursion for him and family members.

Mr. Lusk was preceded in death by his parents, wife Joyce Lusk in 2008, daughter Terri Lusk Hardey in 2004, daughter Becky Lusk in 2017, sister Clara Hassell, and his brothers, Homer Lusk, William Lusk, and E. B. Lusk.

Mr. Lusk will always be remembered in the hearts of everyone who knew and loved him.  Left to cherish all the good memories are his daughter Vicki Clark and husband Alan of Tyler, son Stan Lusk and wife Fran of Tyler, sister Elene Parrish of Anton, four grandchildren, Dr. Brian Clark of Austin, Staci Clark of Tyler, Derek Lusk of Fort Worth, and Cory Lusk of Fort Worth, two great grandchildren, and special friend Mary Coker.

The family would like to thank Dr. John M. Klein at East Texas Family Medicine, Palestine, for years of wonderful care and support.
