Leroy Alton Bowie “Jim”, 69, a 33 year resident of Glen Burnie, passed away at his home on January 11, 2012. He was born in Nanjemoy, MD on February 19, 1942. He served his country proudly as a retired Chief Petty Officer in the U.S. Navy. After retirement, Leroy then worked for BGE and later for Brooklyn Park Middle School as an engineer. He enjoyed gardening, farming, hunting, and the outdoors.

Leroy was preceded in death by his parents; Samuel Irvin & Florence Elizabeth Bowie; two sisters, Helen Bowie and twin sister, Leora Bowie and one brother, Vernon C. Bowie. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Genece Bowie; his children Tammy Cartee, Ivan Hyde, Karen Katocs, and step-son Jeff Chilcote; his siblings, David Bowie, Johnnie Bowie and his wife Charlene, Deryle Bowie and his wife Jean, Winfred Lanehart and her husband Chester, Esther Pirnie and her husband Lowell and Joan Lewis; his grandchildren, Tiffany Doxanas, Jeff II, Camille, Ella, and Griffin Chilcote, Morgan and Hunter Katocs, Michael, Branson and Alec Hyde; and his great-grandchildren Cadence, Xander, and Sedi Doxanas; special aunt and uncle; Arlene and Bretsel Lantz.
