Leroy J. “Lee” Hanson, 84, died Thursday, April 22, 2021 at Taylor House Hospice in Des Moines.
Lee was born January 13, 1937 in Des Moines to Joseph and Florence (McMurray) Hanson.
After graduating High School, Leroy joined the United States Navy and learned to fly. He retired as Chief Warrant Officer, was a member of the Air National Guard Silver Squadron, and National Guard Retirees Association. Following his military career, Leroy worked as a Life Flight Pilot for Rocky Mountain Helicopters.
Survivors include his wife, Joan; children: Lisa Adamovicz of Des Moines; grandchildren: Jami (Michael) Yoder of Indianola, Josh (Sarah) Titus of Des Moines, Derek Hanson of Des Moines, Chad Titus of Cedar Rapids; 6 great grandchildren; sister, Shirley Johnson of Carlisle. Lee was preceded in death by his parents; and son Mark.
