Minister Walker was a graduate of Abbeville High School and later attended Shaw University and Winston-Salem State University. He joined First Emmanuel Baptist Church and served as an Associate Pastor for twenty-eight years under the late Rev. Mason, the late Rev. Lawrence Curtis, and then under the Pastor Rev. Ray Campbell. He was active in Sunday School, the Young Adult and Lawrence Curtis Choirs, and class leader for BTU (Bible Training Union) classes.
Minister Walker was formerly employed as a machinist in manufacturing and volunteered at a nursing home. He enjoyed life, sports, music, reading his Bible, and talking to people.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four sisters, Johnnie Mae Boddie, Henrietta Walker, Inez Lucas, and Loretta Florence Grambrell.
Surviving relatives include children, Nicholas Boyd, Ronald Boyd, LaQuita Boyd and Regina Jacobs; grandchildren, Ziyonnia, Zimiah, Zimir, and Malik Jacobs; three sisters, Virginia Dell Walker who was also his caregiver, of High Point; Cornelia Ann Walker of Columbia, SC; and Vivian Delores Rice (Vera) of Greenwood, SC; aunt, Josephine Bailey; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
