LeRoy D. Hinz, 71, of Spirit Lake passed away on Thursday, December 9, 2021, at Lakes Regional Healthcare in Spirit Lake. LeRoy Dean Hinz was born April 2, 1950 to Roy and Emma (Dontje) Hinz in Estherville, Iowa. LeRoy graduated from Buffalo Center High School in 1969. He continued his education at Iowa Lake Community College where he received his Associates Degree in Feed & Fertilizer. LeRoy was united in marriage to Donna Meinders on August 7, 1971. They were blessed with two children: Cory and Jesse. This marriage later ended in divorce. LeRoy married Teresa (Buse) Meusburger on September 7th, 1991 and welcomed her children, Misty and Cory, into his family. Early in his career LeRoy worked at the fertilizer plant in Rodman, Iowa. He later worked for Wessels in Buffalo Center, Farmland Industries, the Incense Sampler and Harms Oil. During these positions, he lived in Buffalo Center, Webster City & Spirit Lake, Iowa, Salt Lake City, UT and Sioux Falls, SD. LeRoy liked to hang out (and tease) his grand-kids. He was an expert on teaching them how to ride a bike. He enjoyed going to their activities and offering advice with their sports. He enjoyed riding his Harley, bicycling, woodworking, pool and ping pong. Those who embrace his memory are his wife, Teresa of Spirit Lake, IA; his two sons, Cory Hinz of Owatonna, MN and Jesse Hinz and his wife, Tracy of Northfield, MN; two step-children, Misty and Reid Jensen of Sioux Falls, SD and Cory and Kari Meusburger of Sioux City, IA Grandchildren – Mollie, Harrison, Xander, Marena and Eli Hinz, Addison, Alex and Genevieve Jensen, Meah, Micah and Maddox Meusburger; great-grandchildren – Emmett Hinz and Dahlia Pitzl. LeRoy is survived by his siblings, Duane and Janeen Hinz of Buffalo Center, IA and Vicki Hinz and Tamar Prero of Salt Lake City, UT. Sister-in-law -Sheila Schramm (Tim) Schramm, Brothers-in- law – Barry Buse and Lyle Staiert along with many other relatives and friends. LeRoy was preceded in death by his parents, Roy & Emma Hinz, nephew Mack Hinz, sisters-in-law – Becky Staiert and Deb Buse.
