WATERBURY – MOLINA – After a wonderful and long life of almost 96 years, Leontina Oyanadel Molina passed away on September 23, 2016 in Waterbury, CT. Mrs. Molina was born on the 20th of January in 1921 to Jerman Oyanadel and Margarita Aguirre in Tocopilla, Chile. Leontina O. Molina was the oldest of eight and developed a lifetime of professional careers. At the young age of 18 years, she was hired by the Chile Exploration Company in the North of Chile and was employed as a clerk until 1944. She married Enrique Molina Rodriguez on October 22 of 1940 and had two daughters, with one dying during infancy. After a long illness, Enrique died at the young age of 33 in 1948. Mrs. Molina and her daughter Silvia returned to Santiago to begin a 15 year professional career working for Mauricio Hochschild S.A.I.C. South American Minerals and Merchandise Corporation in Santiago, Chile, an international trade company. Upon her immigration to the United States in 1969, Mrs. Molina’s professional career continued. Her studies of the English language provided her with ideal skills for her arrival in Waterbury, CT. She worked as a Payroll Clerk with King’s Department Store and as an Admitting Officer at St. Mary’s Hospital in the early 1970’s. She then worked as an Admisistrative Manager at Specialty Coil Inc., in Waterville, CT from 1972 until 1987. Mrs Molina became a naturalized citizen with great pride in 1976, the year of the United States Bicentennial. Mrs Molina is survived by her daughter, Silvia Molina Maleville and husband Antonio of Watertown, CT; three grandchildren, Anthony Maleville of Berthoud, CO, Stephen Maleville of Middlebury, CT and Silvia Mayo Molina of West Hartford, CT; sisters, Eleanor Venegas of Hollywood, CA, Gelsomina Oyanadel of Waterbury, CT and Margarita Osnato of Prospect, CT; her brothers, Joseph Oyanadel of Winchester Center, CT and Jamie Oyanadel of Willimantic, CT, as well as many relatives still living in Chile. She leaves a legacy of five great-grandchildren, Silvia, Talia and Enrique Mayo of West Hartford, CT and Ahyania and Kai Maleville of Berthoud, CO.
