Leone Shippy, age 95 of Freeport, IL, passed away on Tuesday, March 10, 2020, at Manor Court. She was born on December 9, 1924, the daughter of Clarence and Lera (Rockow) Scheider in Waddams Township.  After graduating from Orangeville High School in the class of 1942, she worked in the offices of the Burgess Battery Company.  On January 31, 1943, Leone and Robert Shippy were married in the former Richland Methodist Church. They farmed for 22 years before moving to Freeport in 1965 where she assisted her husband in his insurance agency.

After their children were grown she did secretarial work for the Amity and Visiting Nurses Association.  Friends will remember how Leone and Bob loved to go dancing!  She was always interested in interior decorating and her home reflected those interests.  In 1966 Leone became a member of Faith United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her four sons, Larry (Dora Jean) Copperhill, TN, Ronnie of Middleton, WI, Michael (Evva) Freeport, and Jeffrey of Freeport; two daughters, Sue (Kevin King) of Sherwood, OR, and Laurie Shippy (Ted Lamm) of Freeport; her sister, Marlene (Allen) Fehr of Freeport; sisters-in-law, Jean Meinert (Freeport) and Mona Shippy of Orangeville, IL; her grandchildren, Mark Shippy of Middleton, WI, Melinda (Steve Rammer) also of Middleon, WI, Corey and Casey Valkema of Freeport, Gabriel Shippy of Athens, GA and Gideon Shippy of Oakwood, GA; her great-grandsons are Gabriel and Ozric Rammer of Middleton, WI; and great-granddaughters, Audrey, Macey and Madelyn of Oakwood, GA.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother and sister-in-law, Virgil and Merla Scheider, brother-in-law, George Shippy, husband, Bob Shippy, and daughter-in-law Jean Shippy.
