Leonard R. Zboril, of Union Pier, Michigan, 78, died Monday, July 17, 2006 at Lakeland Medical Center, St. Joseph, Michigan.Leonard was born on October 6, 1927, in Cicero, Illinois to Thomas and Bertha (Kalcic) Zboril. As a child his family moved to Union Pier where they owned a resort. On April 10, 1948, he married Joyce P. Covert in Lakeside, Michigan. Leonard served his country in the US Navy during WWII and was a carpenter, employed by Tonn and Blank in Michigan City, Indiana before his retirement.

He was very active in the community as a New Buffalo Township Fireman and had served as the Commander; he devoted many years to the Berrien County Shrine Club; was a member of the F. and A. M. Lodge # 239, Three Oaks, where he had served as the Past Worshipful Master; member of Scottish Right 32nd Degree; Saladin Shriners of Grand Rapids, Michigan, Moose Lodge # 980; and the American Legion Post 204, Three Oaks, Michigan.Survivors include his children, Nita (Jim) Murray of Three Oaks; Nancy (Robert) Gino of Evergreen Park, Illinois; Paula (Kenneth) Dudiak of Sawyer; Patty Zboril of Three Oaks and Leonard “Bob” (Jacqueline) Zboril of Three Oaks; grandchildren, Robert, Jr., Justin, Angela, Allison, Jacob, Amanda and Derek; great grandchildren, James, Michelle, Kiersten, Samantha and Robert (Vinny); Leonard was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Irene, brothers, Thomas and William Zboril, his loving wife, Joyce, on June 5, 2005, and also by their granddaughter Rhonda.
