Born May 26, 1926, in Lewisburg, he was the son of Edgar and Ruth I. Dibble Hopper. He was married Nov. 21, 1947, in Nead, to Margaret A. “Marge” Caton, who survives.
Bill, known as Papa Hop, was a self-employed electrical contractor, retiring in 1990. He then went to work for Dilling Mechanical in 1991 and retired in 2003. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, with the rank of Storekeeper 2nd Class. He was a member of the American Legion Post 60, Eagles, Moose and FOP. He was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3790.
He was a diehard Chicago Bears fan and Jeff Gordon fan.
Bill loved his dog, Yahoo, who was his faithful friend.
Surviving are sons, William Richard Hopper and his wife, Candace, and Ricky Lee Hopper and his companion, Amanda Hunt, all of Logansport; daughters, Debra Lynn LaDow and her husband, Robert, Greenwood, and Dawn Lea Howard and her husband, Todd, Lafayette; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; brother, Richard Lee Hopper, Florida; and sisters, Thelma Little, Peru, and Betty Henry, Greenwood.
He was preceded in death by sisters, Letha Summers and Rosalyne Crowe, and a brother, Robert L. Hopper.
