Leonard W. Rouland, 85 years, of Jacksonville, IL and more recently a resident of Florida died Tuesday morning, July 10, 2007 at Passavant Area Hospital in Jacksonville.

He was born February 22, 1922 in Waverly, IL; the son of Vernon “Red” and Viola “Ola” White Rouland. He married Audrey Jean Dixon on June 17, 1942 in Missouri and she preceded in death on April 12. 1992. He later married Rosie Crowley on May 11, 1994 in Florida and she survives.

He is also survived by two sons, Leonard R. “Butch” Rouland and Audy Rouland, both of Jacksonville; two daughters, Rosielee Rouland Mendoza (husband, Rick) and Thelma Rouland, all of Punta Gorda, FL; a step son, Roy Poore (wife, Kristy) of Punta Gorda, FL; a step daughter, April Poore of Punta Gorda, FL; nine grandchildren including Jose and Romeo Buenrostro and Abigail and Angelica Mendoza; six step grandchildren, Andrew, Karlee, Roylee and Jozie Poore and Hope and Faith Daily; several great grandchildren: a sister, Ruth Rouland Kelsey of Alton; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Harold Vernon Rouland and a sister, Evelyn Greshem.

Mr. Rouland served as a sergeant in the US Army during WW II from 1942 to 1945, stationed in the Pacific Theater. He served in numerous military campaigns during the war and was awarded a Purple Heart and two Silver Stars.

Mr. Rouland founded L. W. Rouland Trucking Service, Inc. In 1949. He also owned Leroy’s Pub and numerous other local businesses before retiring to the state of Florida in 1994. He enjoyed Toledo Bend fishing trips, cooking and making soups for his family and employees. He was an avid NASCAR fan and loved his dogs.
