Leonard (The Bear) Martonick, 79, of Port St. Lucie, Florida, formally of Zion Grove, PA, passed away peacefully on July 7, 2021, at his residence.
Following a courageous battle with heart disease and complications from a stroke, suffered in 2013. Born March 25, 1942, in Hazleton, PA. He was the son of the late Michael and Margaret (Amerise) Martonick. He was a 1959 graduate of West Hazleton High School.
He was a professional baseball player for the Cleveland Indians, Triple-A Ball Club. He worked for the Pennsylvania Fish Commission and Barrett-Haentjens & General Foam and later for Hazleton Oil Salvage and Summit Manufacturing.
Preceding him in death, in addition to his parents, was a brother, Donald Martonick.
Surviving is his wife of 45 years, Lucille (Carsia) Martonick; son, Jason of Zion Grove; stepchildren, Corrine Wilson of Drums, Steven Potochney and his companion, Lori Peters of Drums; step-grandchildren, Devin Wilson, and Jeremy Corra of Drums; step great-grandchild, Angelee Corra of Florida; brother, Michael Martonick and husband, Scott of Florida; many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Lenny loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, and playing golf. He loved fast cars, especially his beloved 1966 Big Block Corvette. He loved being outdoors, enjoying nature. He was a charter member of the Hazleton Corvette Club. He raised beagles as a young man and was never without a companion dog at his side, all of which who are in Heaven with him. Except now for his most recent rescue dog, Bruno.
