Leonard Loid Martin, 90, of 2906 Independence Drive, Peru, formerly of rural Arlington passed peacefully surrounded by his family at 5:50 PM on Saturday (July 12, 2014) at Heritage Health Care in Peru.
He was born on November 26, 1923 in Glen Ellyn to Ray and Hilma (Ecklund) Martin. He married the former Norma Rett on April 10, 1943 at St.
He is also survived by two daughters: Lynn (Jim) Sondgeroth of Peru and Lora (Glenn) Pinter of Pontiac; 8 grandchildren: Tracy (Dr. Robert) Mitchell, Dr. Trisha (Dr. Timothy) McCormick, Eric (Jennifer) Cain, Marc (Kelly) Cain, Kyle (Kari) Cain, Aaron (Yvette) Pinter, Nate (Chrissy) Pinter and Niwana Pinter; 18 great grandchildren and one great great grandson and a son in law, Keith Cain of Princeton
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Connie Cain; a granddaughter, Tina Sondgeroth and two sisters: Dolores Williams and Norma Carlson
He was a farmer all of his life and had also worked at Bassick’s.
