Leonard “Len” L. Paff, 87, of Elkhart, was called to be with the Lord on Friday, December 11, 2020, at his residence. He was born in Wellesley (Gadshill Station), Ontario Canada on June 19, 1933 to the late George Orton and Mable Irene (Haas) Paff.
Len is survived by his daughters, Tina Louise (James) Williams and Tara Lynne (Ronald) Short and six grandchildren, Dominic Charles Grebe, Thomas James Williams, Alaina Anne Williams, Ronald Buck Short, Alyssa Lynne Short, Aiden Lewis Short. He is preceded in death by his parents and loving wife, Stella Mae (Holdeman) Paff, who passed away on January 14, 2017.
Len owned and operated Concrete Limited, Inc for 30 years by using the newest state of the art equipment to help train many of his employees to help them start their own businesses. He also owned and operated C-L Building and Leasing, which specialized in mold making and aluminum extrusion business, and L & S Realty, a property purchasing and rental business. After his retirement he worked at Adams and Westlake as a driver taking supplies to and from different companies.
Len Had a pilot’s license and loved to fly his Mooney airplane up to visit his parents and other relatives in Canada, fly to different vacations spots around the U.S., and to concrete jobs at locations as far away as some of the southern states. He was proud of his patents for two different pieces of equipment used in concrete construction, the Rib Con, that placed seams in concrete and Concrete Knee Skies, which let workers “skate” over wet concrete with ease.
He and his loving wife, Stella, of over 60 years of marriage, were both members and trainers for Toughlove International, which was a group known for bringing parent support to many needy families. They helped to start a group here in Elkhart and started other groups throughout Indiana, Michigan, Illinois, and Ohio. Len also worked in the probation department in Elkhart for many years and he was a Housing Authority Board Commissioner for over 15 years. He was a board member for Baugo Township, Centers for Community Justice, and St. David’s Episcopal Church for many years. Len was an avid member of the United Commercial Travelers of America, Junto Club in Elkhart, Mishawaka Pilots Club in Elkhart, and was a Republican precinct committeeman.
Len accomplished many great deeds in his life, but his greatest accomplishment was being an exceptional and loving father and grandfather all while serving the Lord. He will be missed greatly by his loving family and many friends throughout the community.
