Leonard James Deem, 96, of Indianapolis passed away on the afternoon of April 4, 2018. He was born on November 11, 1921 to the late Arthur and Maudie Deem in Bloomington, Indiana. Leonard proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps in the Asiatic Pacific Theater, saw action at Volcano Island, participated in the occupation of Japan and witnessed the historic raising of the American flag at Iwo Jima.
Leonard is survived by his wife of 63 years Rosemary Deem; niece Carolyn (George) Gross; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He is preceded in passing by his parents and sisters Norma Jean Krygielski and Kathleen Rapp.
