Leonard Joseph Kraus, 79, of Ingalls, passed away Friday, April 4, 2014 at his home in Pensacola, FL. He was born September 23, 1934 in Clarksburg, West Virginia to Lawrence Gregory Kraus and Mary-Lillian (Luckett) Kraus.
He served in the U. S. Air Force from 1953 – 1957 as a radio operator and served overseas during the Korean War. He also worked for ARA Vending Co. and the U.S. Postal Service from which he retired in 2007. He was active in the community through St. Thomas Catholic Church (Fortville) and through the sport of swimming where he served as a board member of Pendleton Swim Club and as a swim official for USA Swimming, High School and Middle School swim meets for over 30 years.
Leonard is survived by his children: Laura (Steve) Ransdell of Indianapolis; Loretta (Don) Plew of Fairland; Leonard J. (Joy) Kraus II of Gainesville, FL; Philip (Anne) Kraus of Pensacola, FL; 8 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law: Sue Kraus of Logansport; Rosie (Dennis) Schofield of Peru; Relna (Ed) Kaiser of Peru; Rita Tanner of Wichita Falls, TX, and brother-in-law Darrald (Reggie) Steffey of Bunker Hill. He was preceded in death by his wife Delia E. (Steffey) Kraus whom he married Oct. 19, 1957 in Peru, and his parents and brothers; Lawrence, Charles and Englebert.
