Leonard E. Roberts, 82, of Ottawa, died early Wednesday morning, December 7, 2011 at the Illinois Veteran’s Home in LaSalle.
Leonard was born on July 7, 1929 in Ottawa, to Sig E. and Fairy Minnie (Santschi) Roberts. He married Marigail Helle on September 24, 1960 at St. Columba Church in Ottawa. He served in the Army during the Korean conflict. He worked at Libbey Owens Ford. He was a lifelong member of the VFW and American Legion.
He is survived by his wife, Marigail; two sons, Bob (Mary) Roberts of Ottawa and Stephen (Julie) Roberts of Mt. Pleasant, Mich.; six grandchildren, Michael, Ryan, Shannon, Emily, Charles and Audrey Roberts; and one sister Alice Anderson of Morris. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Dan Roberts and one sister, Janette Helland.
