Leonard Atchley, of Palestine, Texas, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, the 10th day of May 2022.  Mr. Atchley passed away at Trucare Living Centers in Palestine at the age of 86.  He was born on the 2nd day of November 1935 in Borger, Texas to parents Alton Atchley and Zenobia Husted Atchley.

Mr. Atchley was drafted into the United States Army after high school and stationed in Germany.  He served courageously until he was honorably discharged and returned home.  Mr. Atchley later worked as a conductor for Union Pacific Railroad before his retirement. 

Mr. Atchley gave his heart to the Lord a long time ago and committed his life to serving Him until his death.  He was a member of Memory Lane Missionary Baptist Church where he worshiped with his brothers and sisters in Christ every Sunday.  Mr. Atchley was a loving family man who adored every minute he was able to spend with his grandchildren and his companion, Del Freida Wages.  He also enjoyed time at his farm making memories together with his family.    

Mr. Atchley joined in Heaven his parents Alton and Zenobia Atchley; wife, Edith Atchley; mother of his children, Linda Atchley; sister, Ardella Jones; and brother, Dean Atchley.

Left to cherish the good memories of Mr. Atchley are his daughters, Karren Townsend and husband Paul of Buffalo, Texas, Karla Blacklock and husband Mark of Lubbock, Texas; son, Kenneth Atchley and wife Trish of Rockdale, Texas; sister, Maurine Humphreys; and grandchildren, Travis Atchley, Matthew Townsend, Justin Blacklock, Nathan Townsend, Lance Atchley, Heather Thomas, Leah Townsend, and Jacob Blacklock.  Mr. Atchley is also survived by thirteen great-grandchildren with one on-the-way, and numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
