Our beloved mother, grandmother and friend passed away peacefully on Friday, August 17, 2018 at St. Mary’s Hospital surrounded by her family. She was 92 years old. Leona Arlene Andersen was born on June 27, 1926 in Ludington, Michigan to the late Robert J. and Dorothy (Lichte) Andersen. Leona graduated from Scottville High School in 1944. She married Thomas J. Hall on June 3, 1946 in Scottville, MI on the family farm. Together they raised three daughters, and moved to Fairgrove in 1958. Leona worked for the Fairgrove Elevator for many years. She then married Lewis (Ben) Richardson in 1970. In the mid 70’s, Ben and Leona moved to West Branch, MI, and he preceded her in death in 2007. In 2011, Leona came to Saginaw to stay with her daughters during her retirement. Leona was an avid quilter, seamstress and gardener. She also enjoyed caring for her African violets and reading.
She is survived by her daughters: Sandra Lynn Guile, Catherine Ann Hall and Beverly Jean Hall; step-daughters: Judy Stajkowski and Debbie Anderson, grandchildren: Melanie Merrion and David Guile; great granddaughter: Darian Guile; special nieces and nephews: Linda (Mike Rau) Lawson, Lori (Kevin) Toner, Mary Sue Huggard, Tom (Pascale) Gretchen; sister-in-law, Karen Colburn, and her children: Dan (Mary Ann) Colburn, Bryan (Lisa) Colburn and Marcie (Tim) Heintz.
Leona was preceded in death by her parents; step-sister, Betty (Don) Gretchen; step-brother, Milo Colburn; nephew, Robert Huggard.
