Leona Mae Matthews, 79, of Oglesby, died Friday, December 4, 2009, at Heritage Manor in Peru, Illinois.
Mrs. Matthews was born August 8, 1930, in Hennepin, Illinois, to John Henry and Emma Bertha (Schrowang) Turnbull. She married James Ray Matthews on January 27, 1951, in Granville. She was employed at Westclox and Indiana General until retirement.
Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, one brother, John A. Turnbull, and a great-grandchild. She will be lovingly missed by her brother, Robert Turnbull, of Denver, Colorado, her daughter, Susan (Loren) Senders, of Plainfield, Illinois, and her son, James T. Matthews, of Oglesby. Grandma Onie is also survived by her grandchildren, Michael Senders, Kara (Mario) Morales, and Joel Senders. She had one great-granddaughter, Suzy Mae Morales.
