CARRBORO, NORTH CAROLINA – Leona M. Moore-Huffman, age 93, of Carrboro, a former Salem, Ohio resident, died at 8:32 a.m. Saturday, August 11, 2018 at the Chatham Ridge Assisted Living in Chapel Hill.
Leona was born on September 6, 1924 in Patmos Ohio the daughter of the late Harvey E. and Ethel P. (Dressel) Dustman. Leona worked as a bank teller for Bank One of Salem, the Farmers Bank and Heritage Bank. She also worked for Empire Crafts Corp, The World Book Educational Co. and as a dental technician for Dr. Mangus.
She was a member of the Greenford Lutheran Church, where she taught Sunday school and sang in the choir. Leona was a 1942 graduate of Greenford High School, active in 4-H, a Red Cross volunteer and a member of the Greenford Grange. She moved to North Carolina in December of 2005.
Survivors include her husband, Eugene Huffman whom she married on May 5th 2001; her daughter, Pamela Kay (Moore) Zornick and son-in law, John L. Zornick of North Carolina; her grandsons, John L. Zornick Jr. and his wife, Alexandra S. Zornick of Michigan and Joseph E. Zornick of Texas; step-sons, John Huffman and his wife, Emily of Greenford, Ohio; Dennis Huffman and his wife, Sue of Maryland and step-daughter, Margaret Tench and her husband, Doug of California. She is also survived by her step-grandsons, Douglas Denny and his wife, Kathy Denny of Ohio; David Huffman and his wife, Carrie of Greenford, Ohio and Joshua Huffman and his wife, Tempa of Kansas; step-granddaughters, Melody Quiroz and her husband, Marcos of Greenford, Ohio, Gabriela Oliva and her husband, Junier of North Carolina and Nicole Huffman of New Jersey. She is also survived by 6 step-great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Earl K. Moore; her brothers, Arlo and Frank Dustman; her sisters, Alice and Edna; her step-daughter, Jodine Denny and her husband, Donald Denny and her step-great grandson, Logan Huffman.
