Leona Louise Elizabeth Fricke Lovekamp, 87, of Chapin, died Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2016, at Memorial Medical Center.
She was born March 18, 1929, in Beardstown, the daughter of Lorance H. and Dena Buescher Fricke. She married Earl E. “Goldie” Lovekamp on Nov. 20, 1949, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in rural Meredosia, and he preceded her in death on July 17, 2012.
She is survived by her children, Linda (Dwight) Demaree of Littleton, and Randy (Sherry) Lovekamp of Smithville, TX; five grandchildren, Aaron (Christy) Janes of Arenzville, Leah (David) Wiseman of Chapin, Kyndra Lovekamp of Smithville, TX, Justin Lovekamp of Austin, TX, and Erik Lovekamp of Waco, TX; seven great-grandchildren, Katia, Max, Devon, Jaelen, Megan, Josie, and Alex; two sisters, Melba (Winston) Lacey of Decatur, and Vera Kay Hill of Schaumburg; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Mrs. Lovekamp attended school in Cass and Morgan counties, graduating from Meredosia High School in 1947. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Arenzville. She enjoyed researching genealogy and playing cards with her card group. She also taught a lot of children to play the piano. Leona especially enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
