Leona L. Hancock, age 81, of Rensselaer passed away May 2, 2012 at the Jasper County Hospital. Leona was born in Remington, Indiana on November 11, 1930, the daughter of Charles Curtis and Laura Marie (Holifield) Mingear.
Leona resided in both Jasper and Newton Counties, also having lived in California and Michigan.On March 31, 1947, in Rensselaer Leona married Glen Hancock who preceded her in death on September 19, 1991.
Leona worked at All Cards and Peerless Superior Cleaners, both in Rensselaer. For many years she operated a daycare in her home. Leona was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church, Rensselaer.
Surviving are her loving family, one son, Robert (Lynda) Hancock, Fremont, CA, two daughters, Vickie (Dan) Snook, Greenville, MI and Glenda Nagel, Rensselaer; grandchildren, Autumn Black, Brandan (Erin) Snook, Justin (Amber) Hancock, Joseph Hancock, Ryan Nagel, and Jenna Nagel; 3 great-granddaughters and one due in July; 3 great-grandsons; her twin sister, Iona Malone, of Arizona and a sister, Eileen Black, Indianapolis, IN. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one sister and six brothers. Memorials may be given to the St. Augustine Catholic School.
