Leona C. Roeckeman, 99 of Centralia, passed away Wednesday, November 25, 2015 at Centralia Manor. She was born December 22, 1915 in Centralia, daughter of Charles C. Sanders and Iva Mae (Melton) Sanders.
She married Raymond Elifritz on September 1, 1935 and he preceded her in death on May 22, 1976. She married Paul Martin on October 27, 1977 and he preceded her in death on April 20, 1993. She married August “Gus” Roeckeman on October 6, 1996 and he preceded her in death on August 3, 2004. Leona is survived by her daughter, Shirley Bierman and husband Jack of Centralia; four grandchildren: Sandy Guymon of St. Louis, MO, Michael Bierman and wife Linda of Centralia, Jack Douglas Bierman of Kingston, TN, and Tony Marcum of Centralia; five great-grandchildren: Jaime Mannino, Annie Bierman, Katie Bierman, Erin Mooney, Lance Marcum, Tasha Meyer, and Kelsey Jones; twelve great-great-grandchildren: Faith Mooney and Mandolin Mooney, Dylan Mannino and Brandon Mannino, Hadley Marcum, Elijah Marcum and Tinley Marcum, Cash Meyer and Paisley Meyer, Drake Fahringer and Jacob BenAvi, and Jayden Parker; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, a daughter: Sharon Guymon, grandson: David Guymon, a granddaughter: Debra Marcum, five brothers: John Sanders, Robert Sanders, James “Bert” Sanders, Gleason Sanders and Eugene Sanders; three sisters: Rosalie McCaskey, June Addington, and Bertie Stull. Leona worked at Woolworths, the Shoe Factory and she worked as a Dietary Worker at Murray Center and later retired. She was a member of the Faith Methodist Church in Centralia and the Methodist Women Fellowship. She was a Sunday School Teacher, she sang in the choir, and delivered for Meals on Wheels. Leona loved to travel, she was an avid reader, and enjoyed many years at the Club House on Centralia Lake. Most of all she loved spending time with her family and friends.
