Leona Bernice “Bee” Kustron (nee Tilford) passed away peacefully on October 19, 2019. Before becoming ill, Bee lived in DeMotte, Indiana with her husband, John Kustron, who preceded her in death.
The couple formerly lived in Portage, Indiana and spent much time in Port Charlotte, Florida. Bee was a retired jeweler who worked at Comay’s Jewelers in Hamond and Gary and later at Armstrong’s Diamond Center in Southlake Mall. Bee was an active member of the DeMotte United Methodist Church and belonged to 2 Red Hat Groups. She was a former member of the Pilgrim United Church of Christ in Port Charlotte, FL and a former member of St. John’s United Church of Christ in Chesterton, IN. She enjoyed gardening, traveling, golfing, and spending time with friends and family. In addition to her husband of 34 years,
Bee was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Ivy (nee Buskill) Tilford of Dyersburg, TN, her son Ronnie Smith, son-in-law William Thrasher, grandson, Matthew Smith, sisters: Pauline Whitson, Rose Tillman and Lucy Viar, brothers: Earl, Monroe, John and Douglas Tilford. She is survived by her daughter, Denise Thrasher, step-daughter Sharon Johnson, and step-son John (Donna Kustron JR., grandchildren: Christopher (Kelly) Thrasher, Lynette Thrasher, John Kustron III, Keith Kustron, Tim Kustron, David (Melissa) Kustron, Rob (Lisa) Johnson, and Jennifer (Travis) Mayranski, Jeff (Jenny) Smith, and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
