On Saturday, August 17, 2019, Leona Ann Jurek, loving mother and grandmother, passed away at the age of 87 at Covenant Healthcare – Harrison. Leona Ann Gushen was born October 18, 1931 in Saginaw, Michigan to the late Floyd and Luella (Prueter) Gushen. She attended Holy Family High School, graduating in 1949. Leona married Leonard K. Jurek in 1949 in Saginaw, Michigan. He preceded her in death on February 16, 1967. She was employed as a secretary, retiring after many years of service.
She loved fishing at the family cabin on Lake Kindiogami in Ontario, Canada. Leona also enjoyed sewing and was an excellent seamstress. What she really loved most was spending time with her family.
Surviving are her children, Lynn Ann (Bob) Reid, Pamela Steckowski, Leonard (Ruth Ann) Jurek and John (Karen Jansen) Jurek; grandchildren, Cheryl (Richard) Easterwood, Robert (Sherry) Reid, Tracy Humes, and John (Debbie) Jurek; great-grandchildren, Cody Janette, Autumn Janette, Savannah Glaser, Landon Easterwood and Dillon Easterwood; three sisters, Lucille (Ed) Brettrager, Kay Meloy, Marilyn Trombley, and many nieces and nephews.
Leona was preceded in death by her two brothers and their spouses, Irvin (Rita) Gushen and Gerald (Doris) Gushen, and son in-law, Robert Steckowski.
