Leon J Van Dyke Sr, 77 of Cliffwood Beach passed away at home Saturday, December 4, 2021. He served our great nation for 25 years both in the Active Army and the New Jersey Army National Guard. He was a proud military Veteran who had a long career working at the General Motors plant in Linden, NJ. Leon held many positions at General Motors, most recent as a supervisor.
Leon is predeceased by his wife Katherine, parents Leon W and Lillian and siblings Carol Wands and Dennis Van Dyke. He is survived by his loving children Leon J Van Dyke Jr and his companion Diane of Cliffwood Beach, Michael Van Dyke Sr and his wife Gina of Toms River, and cherished grandchildren; Kaitlyn Van Dyke, Troy Van Dyke Sr, Michael Van Dyke Jr, Travis Van Dyke, Mickey Murgittroyd, Mitchell Murgittroyd, Megan Murgittroyd, Michael Schwartz, Nicholas Schwartz, Tierney Schwartz and Ashley Schwartz. He also leaves his adored great grandchildren; Troy Jr, Gracen, Aubrey, Zoe, Olivia, Savanna, Noah, Declan, Landon, Avery, Seth, his siblings; Pat Christensen, David, Tom, Bill, Phyllis Curto, Dorene Dewey and his companion Linda Butler and her children, Dean, William, John and Debbie Balletta. Leon will be truly missed by all that knew and loved him.
