Leon C. Danley of Burlington City, died Thursday August 3, 2017 at his residence at the age of 71. Born in Mt. Holly, Leon was a longtime Burlington City resident.

He was an avid and talented baseball player who played for the Burlington Mets, a semi-pro baseball team while still in high school. He was also drafted by the NY Yankees organization. An opportunity to play baseball for the University of Arizona was thwarted as he was drafted into the army before entering college.

He served his country for two years before being honorably discharged and returning home to Burlington. Leon then went to work for the post office in Willingboro, from where he retired as a letter carrier. He was an avid Phillies fan who also loved to read, particularly about the civil war. He enjoyed learning about civil war history and became an expert on the subject. Leon was predeceased by his parents Lester and Helen (Schiller) Danley and his brother Lester Danley.

He is survived by his wife Connie (Ochipinti) Danley, his daughter Dr. Courtney (Jon) McHugh, his grandchildren; Tyler and Baby Tess, his mother in law; Jean Ochipinti, his sisters in law and brother in law; Dorothy Danley, Anthony (Terri) Ochipinti, Kathleen (Rob Coyne) Ochipinti and Gina Wheatley as well as many nieces and nephews.
