Leo Mattei, 79, of Peru, died at 1:16 p.m. Sunday, November 5, 2006, at the Illinois Veterans Home, Manteno. He was born May 8, 1927 in Highland, IL to Frank and Dessi (Logli) Mattei. He worked as a mechanic for the city of Peru, retiring in 1992. He served in the Navy during WWII. He married Jean May on November 4, 1950, in Waukegan, IL. He was a member of the Peru VFW, the Peru Eagles, and the Illinois LST Association.
He is survived by: 1 daughter, Leeann Franklin of Miami, FL; 2 granddaughters; and 1 sister, Rena (Jim) Baldwin of Highwood, IL. He was preceded by: his parents and 1 sister, Alice Mattei
