Lenna Leora “Lee” Newton, age 92, passed away on Sunday, January 10, 2016. She was born on November 8, 1923, in Kalamazoo, MI a daughter of Leander and Verna (Skillman) Kern. Lenna was a member of Galesburg United Methodist Church and was a charter member of Sunnyside United Methodist Church. She was also very involved with the Michigan State Extension Program.
On October 10, 1942, Lenna married Roger B. Newton who preceded her in death on June 16, 2012. Lenna was also preceded in death by her parents and four sisters.
Surviving are three sons, Carl (Vickie) Newton of Galesburg, Gary (Charlyn) Newton of Galesburg and James (Roxanne) Newton of Parchment; six grandchildren, Lori-Marie (Jonathan) Boyer, Lisa (Don) Koop, Jason (Lauren) Newton, Travis (Audrey Forsberg) Newton, Rebekah Newton and Krystine (Chris) Botsis; four great-grandchildren, Anna, Jonah, Sylis and Wesley; a great-grandson due in February; and several nieces and nephews.
