Lenn M. Sutterfield, age 73 of Sanford, died Thursday, December 27, 2012, at his residence. The son of the late Homer and Lillie (Cunningham) Sutterfield was born in Manila, Arkansas on September 4, 1939. He served in the United States Army. Lenn was employed with Painters Local 1803 where he served as the business agent and held many other positions. He was a past treasurer for Michigan State Painters Union. Lenn was a member of Sanford Eagles 3677 where he was past worthy president and a member of the Moose.
Surviving is his wife Nancy whom he married on October 2, 1970; sons, Richard Sutterfield of Sanford, Rodney (Tammy) Miller of Sanford, Mitchell (Jennifer Hausdorf) Miller of Poulsbo, Washington; grandchildren, Matthew & Clinton Sutterfield, Eric (Jennifer Showalter), Andrea & Rachael Miller, Gary Raynak, Cory & Mitchell Miller, Alison & Michael Clark, Amanda Sims; 8 great-grandchildren; brother, CL “Red” (Lorna) Sutterfield of Coopersville, MI; brothers and sisters in law, Al (Brenda) Vandenberg of Byron Center, MI., Larry (Marsha) Gehl of Drummond Island, Michael (Connie) Gehl of Gold Canyon, AZ, Susan (David) Fleischmann of Curtis, MI; many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents Lenn was preceded in death by brother and sister-in-law, Leon (Fleta Jo) Sutterfield; sister, Sandy Vandenberg; mother and father-in-law, Ralph (Thelma) Gehl; brother-in-law, James Gehl.
