Lelila M. Smith Ray, 95, died June 26, 2011, at Country Home Health Care. She was born July 29, 1915, to Alonzo & Sophia Smith in Hancock County.
She is survived by two brothers, John Smith of Tacoma, Washington, and Joseph Smith of Ogden, Utah; four sons, Charles D. & Barbara Ray of Palmetto, Florida; Steven & Janet Ray of Charlottesville, Indiana, Paul & Judith Ray of Pendleton and Kenneth & Marilyn Ray of Anderson; seventeen grandchildren, twenty-five great-grandchildren, and eight great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 52 years, Charles O. Ray; siblings, Floyd Smith, Loretta Sherman, Bonnie Smith, Jim Smith & Louise Smith; and a great-grandson, Kenneth Ray. She attended First Friends Church of Anderson and was a lifelong homemaker. She loved quilting, reading, nature, and making people smile. She will be missed.
