Leland Peter Richardson, age 43, of Colorado, passed away May 26, 2019, surrounded by family and friends. Born on December 3, 1975, in Denver, Colorado to Marcellus Richardson and Valerie Poole. Leland graduated from Rangeview High School and Colorado State University. Leland went on to open The Crop Shop Barber and Beauty Salon, which served the community for over 15 years. The Crop Shop served as a haven for the youth in the community, where knowledge and wisdom were available to anyone willing to accept his passionate guidance.
Leland was a pillar of the community. He went on to help others start their own individual businesses under his guidance and expertise. Leland was well respected not only throughout his community but the entire city.
Leland was a forward thinker, innovative in his ideas, always looking to improve not only his situation but the others around him as well. Leland served as a mentor to countless youth. He believed in helping others and he understood the spirit of entrepreneurship as a means to attain financial freedom. Leland was happy to share these lessons with anyone willing to listen.
Leland embodied courage at every point in his life. He always held his head high no matter the challenge. Leland made sure to always listen and make sure everyone knew their value. Leland was a man of true greatness, true wisdom, and true knowledge. His spirit will live on forever in all of us.
Leland is survived by Valerie Poole, Marcelus Richardson, Adrian Walton, Aisha Richardson, Idalis Richardson, Jersee Richardson, Brook’lynn Richardson, and Darshalon Berry-Smith. He was preceded in death by Harrel G. Keeling, Sr. and Thomas Powell.
