Leland D. Caldwell , 88, of LaSalle, formerly of Wenona, died at 2:35 AM Friday (July 31, 2015) at St. Margaret’s Hospital in Spring Valley.
He was born on June 13, 1927 in Peoria, IL to Noah C. & Ethel (Judd) Caldwell. He married the former Virginia Irene McMeen on May 13, 1950 in Dana, IL. She preceded him in death.
He is survived by his children: Joyce Ann Caldwell of Wenona, Donald Lee Caldwell of Yankee Town, FL and Jayne Caldwell of Wenona; 4 granchildren: Corina (Bobby) Richards of Springfield, MO, Christopher Lee (Michelle) Caldwell of Mechanicsburg, PA, Cassandra Caldwell of CA and Rebecca Leigh Caldwell of Wenona and 8 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and a brother Donald in infancy.
He served in the United States Air Force during World War II. He had worked as a carpenter and retired from Sunstrand in Lasalle.
He was a member of the Northern Illinois Bluegrass Association, the C.B. Club and the Marshall County Sportsman Club.
Leland loved Bluegrass music and playing his Dobro guitar.
