Leland C. Schaible, 80, of Freeport, died Wednesday, May 13, 2009, at the home of his daughter in West Lake Village. Born July 15, 1928, in Hanover he was the son of Melvin L. and Etta K. (Chapman) Schaible. He married Deanna DeCursio on March 29, 1957, and she preceded him in death. He married Edith Lilies on June 10, 1967, and she preceded him in death.
He was a Navy Veteran of the Korean War. Leland retired from the US Navy in 1967 after 20 years of service. He was a Marketing Communication Specialist at Micro Switch retiring in 1986. His memberships included Evergreen Masonic Lodge, High Twelve, Past Patron of Freeport Eastern Star, Freeport Consistory, Tebala Shrine, Tebala Shrine T-Ten, White Shrine of Jerusalem, Freeport Moose Lodge, Freeport Eagles, and former member and officer of Freeport Elks.
Leland is survived by 2 sons Leland C. (Susan) Schaible Jr. of Plant City, FL and Dr. Keith L. (Dr. Anne) Schaible of Chicago; 2 daughters Dr. Rose (Dr. Kevin Gander) Stocker of West Lake Village and Theresa M. (Don) Schadewalt Taasevigen Schaible-Goseyun of Ocean Beach, CA; 1 sister, Priscilla Ann Frank Lundy of Savanna. 24 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren; 1 step-daughter, Karen (Ed) Boone of Peoria 1 step-son, Richard Lilies, of Freeport; and his beloved dog, Missie. He was preceded in death by his parents; wives; 1 brother, Phillip; and 1 sister, Grace.
