Lela B. Dunnill

Mrs. Lela B. Dunnill, of Bay City, passed away on Thursday, August 18, 2016 at the Oliver Woods Assisted Living Center in Owosso, age 97. The daughter of the late Ernest R. and Carrie M. (Walker) Streeter, she was born on February 28, 1919 in Gladwin County. Lela graduated from Standish High School in June 1936. In December of 1942 she married William H. Martin and he died during battle while serving aboard the USS Wasp in September of 1943. On December 21, 1945 Lela married Floyd E. Dunnill. In December of 1995 they celebrated their Golden Anniversary. Mr. Dunnill passed away in November of 2003. Lela retired from the Ogemaw County Treasurers Office in 1982 as Deputy Treasurer. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Bay City. Lela was a life member of both the Tawas Bay O.E.S. Chapter #71 and the Zion Rose West Branch O.E.S. Chapter #117.
Mrs. Dunnill is survived by her two sons, Richard (Peggy) Dunnill of Ludington and John (Barbara) Dunnill of Flushing; her five grandchildren, Steve and Holly (Dunnill) Shafley, Joshua (Courtney) Dunnill, Joseph (Brandi) Dunnill, Amanda Dunnill and Bradley (Allison) Dunnill; her great-grandchildren, Gage, Conner, Novalee, Samara, Bernice, Luke, Opal, Brody, Cale, Lena, Penny, Levi and Brooks; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Mrs. Dunnill was also preceded in death by her baby daughter, Deborah; her sister, Donna (Glen) Martin; her brother, Duane “Bud” (Elaine) Streeter; brothers and sisters-in-law, John “Jack” (Stella) Dunnill and Ernest (Virginia) Dunnill; and three nephews, James Streeter, Patrick Dunnill and Dean Converse.
