Lee Merrill Adams was born May 6, 1931 to Claude Harris Adams and Clarissa Audene Merrill in Berkeley, California. He was the second of three children. He was raised in the agricultural community of Merced, California.

Lee received an undergraduate degree from Stanford University (and loved to tell people when he went there, it only cost $900 per year, and was able to pay for college by working through the summer). He also attended medical school at Stanford University. After college, he completed a rotating internship at Sacramento General Hospital. He served in the United States Air Force as a second Lieutenant stationed in Amarillo, Texas after which he did his OB/GYN residency at Washington University/Barnes Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri. He practiced medicine in San Jose, Redding, and Stockton, California, where he estimated he delivered approximately 10,000 children.

Lee was a man who it was hard not to love. He was kind to everyone he met, chatted with strangers about any and all topics. Lee loved to tell stories, including about his favorite interests, sailing and trains. It was infrequent to have a conversation with Lee in which he didn’t mention the time he sailed to Hawaii or the time he got to be the engineer on a train for his 80th birthday.

Lee unexpectedly passed away on July 4, 2015, due to a CVA. He is survived by his precious wife Karen, who he cherished above all things on earth and in heaven and never failed to compliment when he had the chance. Lee had seven children, Wendy Tomer (Randy), Carol Fisher (Larry), Suzy Rogers (Steve), Brian Adams (Sharon), Randy Earnest (Tassie), Aimee Dunn (Tim), and Stephen Adams (Maren), all of whom survive him and miss him dearly. He is also survived by twenty-three grandchildren. He was predeceased by his father, mother, sister Judy, and his brother Harris.
