BARKHAMSTED – Lech A. Lachowicz, 71, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 4, 2021. He was the loving husband of Susan (Murray) Lachowicz for 15 years and the late Claire (Deschamps) Lachowicz. Born on February 25, 1950 in England; the son of the late Franciszek and Helena (Pogonowska) Lachowicz. Lech was employed for many years with Bristol Babcock, Inc., in Watertown as an Electrical Engineer, a job that he loved with a passion. He possessed a deep inner strength bolstered by his Catholic faith. He was a selfless, intelligent, patient, kind, and devoted family man who loved spending time with all of his extended family. He enjoyed bowling, cycling, skiing, chess, guitar, and tennis, but more than anything enjoyed sharing these with his family. He was a handyman who could build or fix anything. Later in his life, he also became a skilled ballroom dancer. He loved vacationing in the Outer Banks and visiting family and friends. He is already deeply missed. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his two sons, Michael Lachowicz and wife Sabrina of Cheshire and Mark Lachowicz and wife Molly Franz of MD; stepchildren who considered him Dad, Michelle Faulkner and husband Larry of NC and Cathy Durso and husband Ben Mettey of MA; a close sister, Barbara Cunningham and husband William of Oxford; six grandchildren that he adored, Noelle, Michael, Claire, Jacob, Lucy and Noah; and several nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Dr. Mario Sznol and the entire staff on the oncology team at Yale New Haven Hospital for their care and kindness.
