Leamira (“Leli”) Cerqueira Santos, 80, passed away peacefully on Jan. 21 from complications after surgery. Leli and her family moved to the US in 1970, becoming pioneers of the Brazilian community in Miami. She devoted her time to raising her children, helping her husband Jair (predeceased) run his tourism and subsequently restaurant and medical supply export businesses, and working as a certified translator. Her family remembers mostly her great sense of humor, love, and selflessness, as well as her courage and dedication to her natural and extended families.
