Lee, Leah Menezes
6/3/1946 – 9/9/2016
Leah Lee passed away peacefully at home with her husband, Bill Girand and daughter, Tema Milstein.
Leah was a spiritual, loving, caring, giving, open, strong, and free spirit who embraced and felt deep gratitude for the wonder, beauty, and strength of the Earth. She actualized love and connection with everyone around her, from stranger to hummingbird. In her openness and presence, Leah’s spirit touched everyone and inspired many. In her compassion, she was a warrior protector for those in need.
Leah was an artist teacher with children and adults in schools, universities, museums, dojos, and city streets. She was both a visual artist of murals, sculpture, painting, and multimedia, and a martial artist fifth degree black belt in isshin ryu karate, practitioner of krav maga, teacher of tai chi, and trainer of awareness self defense.
Leah’s last few years were with Multiple Systems Atrophy and she was ready to finish that tremendous struggle and merge completely once again with the loving guiding force.
Leah is survived by her husband, Bill; her daughter, Tema, and son-in-law, John Carr; her grandsons, Theo and Sky Milstein-Carr; and her stepchildren, Sally, Abby, and Billy Girand. Leah’s spirit now joins her son, Avi Milstein; her brother, Mike Lee; and her parents, Carl and Julia Lee. Those who survive her are deeply grateful to have had her love and wisdom in their lives and those who greet her joyfully reunite with her.
