Leah Joy White, 85, passed from this life and entered into eternity with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, on December 9, 2016 at The Homestead in Knoxville, IA, where she had been a resident for the last 4 years.
Leah was a born in Chariton, Iowa on August 12, 1931 to John and Myrtle Frances Nordeen. She was married to Dean White of Chariton, IA on April 5, 1953. Dean and Leah moved to the farm after their marriage. They raised six children. Leah was a devoted wife to Dean, always helping in any way she could in the farm operation. She stayed home for many years to raise their children. She was a devoted mother. She loved to cook for her family. Her pies, cookies, homemade bread, and sweet pickles were always a favorite.
Leah also worked for many years for the Chariton Community School District, first as an elementary school teacher’s aide, and later as a high school guidance office secretary. Leah loved her job, and offered love, support, friendship, and encouragement to many children.
Although Leah was affected by Alzheimer’s Disease later in life, she never lost her sweet and kind disposition.
Leah is preceded in death by her husband, parents, her brothers Jack Nordeen and Clarence (Swede) Nordeen, and her sisters Mildred Brown and Hazel Laffoon.
