Leah Hagerman-Griffey, 80, of Ligonier, passed away on January 9, 2021, at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne, with family around.

Born on March 6, 1940, to the late John and Clara (Woody) Hicks.  She spent her formative years in Paynesville, West Virginia.

Leah was married to Tommy Hagerman on April 19, 1958, in Paynesville. The couple moved to Indiana in 1998. He preceded her in death on October 1, 2007.

Leah was married to Moses Griffey, on October 30, 2010.

After raising 12 of her children she earned her GED, a business degree and finally her LPN license.

She worked as a LPN for Avalon and Kingston Nursing Homes for over 30 years, retiring in April of 2020.

Leah was a devoted “Old Regular Baptist Christian,” for 66 years. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a friend and light to everyone who met her. She enjoyed reading the Bible and loved having her children around her. Leah held the family together with her love, and was the strength and hero of each of their lives. “She was an eagle when she flies.” She will be forever missed but forever in our hearts.

Leah is survived by her husband, Moses Griffey; five sons, Allen (Mary) Hagerman, Jeffrey (Toynia) Hagerman, and Michael (Stephanie) Hagerman, Anthony (Tiffany) Hagerman and Aaron (Shannon) Hagerman; five daughters, Ann (Ron) Marshall, Sherry (Leon) Hagerman, Carolyn (Mitch) Davidson, Deleah (Anthony) Stanley, and Tommi Jo (Estil “Dickie”) Pruitt of Ligonier; daughter-in-law, Nancy Hagerman; two step-children, James (Tammy) Griffey and Pam (Timmy) Nance; 53 grandchildren and 69 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband of 49 years, Tommy Hagerman; two daughters, Madelene and Ethelene Hagerman; three sons, Mark, Jonathan and Stephen Hagerman; a son-in-law, Charley Gross; two grandsons, Joshua Hagerman and Joseph Allen Hagerman; two great-grandsons, Isaac Matthew Hagerman and Nash Rudy Hagerman.
