Lawrence William (Bill) Moe, age 86 of Midland, passed away Friday, October 30, 2015 at the Hospice and Palliative Care Unit of the Alda Lutz VA Facility in Saginaw. He fought the fight for 16 months.

Bill was born in Midland, Michigan on June 09, 1929 to William E. and Lucile (Irelan) Moe. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict; he supported the Midland American Legion Berryhill Post 0165 as a member. He was employed with the Dow Corning Corporation until his retirement in 1989, after 25 years of service. He was an avid softball player for 42 years, enjoyed duck hunting, fishing, going for long walks, road trips, the beauty of flowers, reading westerns and making people laugh. He was the king of putting jigsaw puzzles together. To sum it up, Bill was a very talented, hardworking handy man and a humble, compassionate person that would do anything for anyone. He is missed so much already.

Surviving are sons, Randal (Tracie) Moe of Breckenridge, Larry (Karen) Moe of Midland; daughters, Cheryl Gerry of St. Louis, Ronda (David) Fetzner of Elwell and several grandchildren; brothers Robert (Bob) Moe and his companion, Jenny of Midland, Dale Moe of Midland, Gary (Elfrieda) Moe of Durman, Germany; sisters Shirley (Melvin) Rooker of Midland, Dorothy Quick of Mio, Diane Nelson of Clare, along with many of nieces and nephews. Bill is also survived by his loving life partner Gerry Smokoska and her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by 3 brothers and 2 sisters.
