Lawrence R. Garrison, 86, a well-known Jefferson Township farmer, passed away Monday morning at 3:15 a.m. at the University Nursing Center. He was born in Elwood the son of the late Robert A. and Isabelle (Watson) Garrison.
He attended Point Isabelle and Windfall schools. He married Anna M. (Hunter) on February 3, 1942, in Alexandria. Mr. Garrison owned and operated the Garrison family farm his entire life until retiring in 1986. He was a Board Member of Farmer’s Mutual Insurance Co. and Matthews Feed and Grain, serving as chairman for several years. He was a very active member of the Epworth United Methodist Church, Matthews.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Anna; two sons, Thomas R. (Pam) Garrison, Gas City, Larry J. (Jackie) Garrison, Upland; a daughter, Janet K. (David) Baller, Ft. Wayne; grandchildren: Jeffrey R. (Laura) Garrison, Hartford City, Jay P. (Joanna) Garrison, Albany, Andrew R. Garrison, Upland, Robert D. Baller, Iowa City, IA, Master. Sgt. Craig D. (Gloria) Baller, Ramstein, Germany, Carla Thompson, Marion, Greg Baller, Ft. Wayne; great-grandchildren: Joshua R. Garrison, Hartford City, Chelsea E. Garrison, Upland, Craig D. Baller, Jr., Ft. Walton Beach, FL, Dakota R. Garrison, Upland, Emma T. Baller, Ramstein, Germany, Christopher B. Baller, Ramstein, Germany, Isaiah Thompson, Marion, Staci Henkel, and Casi Gilpin, both Hartford City; several cousins, nieces, and nephews.
