Larry was born to Lawrence & Sophia (Johnson) Corsa on September 23, 1925 in Queens New York. During WWII Larry served in the U.S. Army Air Force stationed in Cuba and later Colorado. After the war he stayed in Colorado and earned both a Bachelor and master’s degree in education from Northern Colorado University. It was at UNC where he met the love of his life Rose Mary.

Larry spent his entire career in education. Initially as a history teacher, followed by various administrative positions such as principal at Lake Junior High School and principal at George Washington High School in Denver, and concluded his career supporting Denver Public Schools.

Larry continued to help others in his retirement years in several ways. Larry facilitated the creation of “Denver Public School Retired Employees’ Scholarship Fund”. The DPSREA is a philanthropic expression of Denver Public School Retired Employees’ members continued interest in and concern for the students of Denver Public Schools. This merit-based scholarship grew from its beginnings in 1996 when it awarded two $1,000 scholarships to eleven $10,000 scholarships to the class of 2018. Larry was honored for his leadership by the DPSREA, by naming one of the annual scholarships in perpetuity in his honor.

“Larry was known for his love of the Denver Broncos. During football season he would make sure his “snacks” were ready so that he and Rosemary could watch the Bronco’s uninterrupted. An avid fan, his one wish was to see his Bronco’s win the Super Bowl – which was realized 3 times in his life.
