Lawrence Joseph Lamping Jr., 92, of Beech Grove, Indiana passed away on October 10, 2021. Larry was born on September 2, 1929. He married Margaret Dorris Petty, the love of his life on January 27th, 1951, and they had five children, Mark, Jean, Kathy, Linda (Mike Harris) and Paul (Debbie).
Lawrence J. Lamping proudly served his country as a Corporal in the United States Army during the Korean War.
He stayed very active in the Cancer Support Group, Holy Name Men’s Club, Sertoma Club, Kiwanis Club, Rotary Club and the Knights of Columbus #3660.
Larry would be known to many as “Uncle Larry” and was loved for his amazing sense of humor, giving heart and his ability to laugh and create fun.
Larry would qualify that one of the top 10 accomplishments in his life was opening Lamping Cleaners in 1964 where Dorris and all five children worked for many years. At the age of 50, Dorris and Larry retired to Bull Shoals, Arkansas where, together, they opened Gold Pan Pizza. Arkansas was their home until returning to be with family in 2007.
Larry and Dorris were Blessed with 13 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Margaret Dorris Lamping; his son, Mark Joseph Lamping, and his great-grandsons, Skylar and Michael.
