Lawrence (Larry) Corey was born on June 25, 1932, and passed away on May 30, 2016. Our family would like to thank all who loved and cared for him the last six and a half years at the Village at South Farms, and Water’s Edge Center for Health and Rehabilitation. Larry grew up in Monroe Bridge, MA and later Vernon, Vermont. From a large family, he enjoyed telling us that he was an excellent student. He shared often that he graduated first boy in his class in eighth grade and with prodding, would confess that the only other student in his class was a girl and indeed had finished ahead of him. Larry went on to star on the baseball field at Brattleboro High School. It was there as a pitcher he twirled his knuckle ball and “crooked arm curve” as the BHS beat writers called it. Thanks to his parents Mimi and Grandpa for creating a wonderful scrapbook of those memories. Most importantly, it was also, where he met his future wife of 53 years, Janice Searle Corey.

Larry went into the Navy and served in the Merchant Marines after high school and then on to the University of Vermont where he received his degree in electrical engineering. He worked the majority of his career at Arrow Hart and Crouse Hinds and received many patents for his inventions. He had a passion for his work and would try his best to teach his children about schematics. Those conversations worked best with his brother, Leo however.

His family was his greatest passion though. Larry (Poppy) and Janice (Shama) were at all of the grandchildren’s games, concerts, and shows. He also enjoyed many UCONN basketball and Red Sox baseball games with his family over the years. Although afflicted with Alzheimers later in life, Poppy was always able to enjoy time with his family.
