Lawrence “Larry” Alexander Long, Sr. left behind a legacy in this world on September 20, 2021. Dedicated to God and his family, those who knew him will remember him as a Godly man.
He is survived by his loving wife JoAnn, four children Larry (Julie) Long Jr., Barney (Sharmon) Long, David (Melissa) Long, and Shawn (Russ) New, 11 grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren.
Larry loved his wife of 60 years. His “steady always,” they remained devoted to each other through all of life’s adventures.
Larry served in the United States Air Force for 6 years before also serving in the Coast Guard for 4 years. Larry was a dutiful worker at Union Camp/International Paper for 40 years. After retirement, he spent his days enjoying the golf course.
The family wishes to extend a special thanks to the staff at Ogeechee Area Hospice for the care and compassion shown to Larry during this difficult time.
