Larry was born on April 9, 1951 in Red Lake, MN to Elizabeth (Lovelace) and Patrick Long, Sr.
Larry was a beloved father. He was very generous, if someone needed help he would be there, whether rain or shine. He loved to cook, spending part of his life as a chef at the Seven Clans Casino in Thief River Fall, MN. He loved to travel, he travel extensively throughout Indian Country learning about various Native traditions and participating in many traditional ceremonies. He often found himself teaching the younger generation about the traditional ways of Native American beliefs. He never looked down on a single person and despite his many health issues he always look to the sky and had a smile on his face. He loved to joke around, often bringing laughter to everyone in the room. He was very proud of his 30+ years of sobriety and often went to AA round-ups when able. One of his proudest moments was watching his daughter, Winona, graduate with her nursing degree and passing her boards.
