Lawrence Graves, 98, of Three Oaks, Michigan went to be with his Lord on Memorial Day, May 26, 2008. Mr. Graves was born February 27, 1910 to Edgar and Mary Ann (Fiscus) Graves in New Carlisle, Indiana.

In 1918, when he was a young man, he and his team of horses assisted with building the road between Berrien Springs, Michigan and South Bend, Indiana. On September 27, 1933 he married Bernice Huffman in South Bend, Indiana, she preceded him in death on February 25, 1986. After Bernice’s death, he married Bertha Damron on December 21, 1986.

Bertha preceded him in death July 21, 2005. Mr. Graves founded Graves Sewer and Tile Company in 1948 and continued operating it for 50 years. He was a farmer all his life and also was a livestock dealer. Mr. Graves enjoyed traveling, fishing, mowing his yard, working in his garden and tending his flowers. He loved listening to Lawrence Welk and spending time with his family.

Survivors include his daughters, Gloria Graves of New Buffalo, Michigan, Bonnie Klute of South Bend; and Connie Graves-Brown of Three Oaks; grandchildren, Andrea (Josef) Loutzehiser; and Michael (Amy) Klute and Carey (Melodie) Brown; great grandchildren, Ashley, Tyler, Nick, Amber, Spencer, and Beauden and several nieces and nephews.
