Lawrence Dennis Kleve was born August 2, 1944 in Omaha, NE to Aloysius and Valeria Kleve. He passed away April 7, 2019 at age 74 at his second home in Gilbert, AZ where he had been residing as he fought a heart condition. He was raised in Vermillion, MN, a small town outside of Hastings, MN. He graduated from Hastings High School in 1962 and earned his B.S., M.S., and Ed. S. degrees from Mankato State University. He taught elementary school as well as being a Principal, Assistant Superintendent and Superintendent of Schools in various districts in MN, ND and CO. He met his wife, Susan at Mankato State University where she also received her B.S. degree.
In the early 80’s he left education to become a business owner. He purchased his first convenience store in Hudson, CO and continued adding businesses for many years which included a Kwik Kopy Printing and a Quizno’s. He worked his way through college working at a gas station and when he passed he owned three stations, two car washes, a liquor store and many residential and commercial properties in the Keenesburg, Hudson, Gilcrest and Brighton areas where he was well known for over 30 years. His hobbies were working and traveling which included cruises and destination trips all over the world. Even though weak in 2018 he still took a 9 day bus tour through the Canadian Rockies and an 11 day cruise from New England to Quebec (after a 911 Memorial Tour in NY). The mailbox continued to be full of travel brochures every day and he continued to hope he could travel more.
He was active in the Brighton area from 1973 – retirement including The Elks, Knights of Columbus, Lions Club, St.
